Blue Cinder Studio is a husband and wife team of two artists who work both individually, and collaboratively.
They have been on the Big Island for the last 10 years and in 2022 completed a new studio.
Shelby Smith has an undergraduate degree in Architecture, and in Ceramic Design from KU, and an MFA in Spatial Art from SJSU. He is currently working on several new bodies of work, in wheel thrown clay and mixed media sculpture.
Kimberly Langston Hagen was a biology and literature major for most of her first degree from UCSC, and also has a BFA in Spatial Arts from SJSU. Kim has a line of porcelain jewelry that is available under BlueCinderBiologica.
